The Sri Maha Bodhi tree is a direct descendent from the original Bodhi tree in BodhGaya—the one it is said the Buddha achieved enlightenment under. It is the oldest living human-planted tree—planted in 288 BCE! In fact, the Bodhi tree currently living in BodhGaya is a cutting of THIS tree!
