Teach with Tricycle

Where are our current pilgrimages?

We typically move around each country/region, staying in 2-6 locations as we explore historic Buddhist sites, monasteries, and cultural points of interest.

Pilgrimages are typically 12 to 14 days, not including international travel.

Who is on these pilgrimages?

  • A dharma teacher (you!)
  • A representative from Tricycle’s staff or board
  • An expert local guide from the destination
  • BJ Graf & Lauren Rathvon, our pilgrimage organizers at RetreaTours
  • 10-25 Tricycle readers; maximum number depends on the destination
      • Ladakh: 12 guests max
      • Mongolia: 12-14 guests max
      • Sri Lanka: 20 guests max
      • India & Nepal: 25 guests max

Most of our pilgrims are from the United States, with a growing number of guests from the UK, Europe, and Australia.

Your Role

  • Give relevant talks and/or lead meditations at the sites we visit
  • Lead or participate in a group discussion in the evening
  • Join pre-trip Zoom meeting for group introductions
  • Engage with pilgrims during some downtime and meals
  • Share the pilgrimage opportunity in your newsletter and any social media you use. (The trip is advertised by Tricycle and by RetreaTours, as well.)

Logistics

Everything is designed and managed before and during the journey by the owners of RetreaTours; this includes the pilgrimage website, all guest relations, all pre-trip communication and resources. Your only responsibility is teaching. You do not need to have any experience teaching internationally or with group travel logistics.

Dana

  • Payment for your teaching directly from RetreaTours at the conclusion of the pilgrimage
  • Airfare is paid to and from the destination
  • All expenses on the journey, including a private room, all meals, and transportation. The only expense you would be responsible for is medical travel insurance.
  • Deepened connection with potential future students
